If you enjoy wildlife and wish to experience
the Okavango Delta intimately our 10 day Okavango "Old Time" safari is
designed to provide this in relative comfort and safety. With this
safari you will be flown into the Delta from Maun by a light charter
aircraft where you can then immerse yourself in the beauty of the
Okavango and lose all sense of time while living in close proximity to
the animals that inhabit this paradise. Here your primary means of
travel will be the mokoro. Your local guide will pole you to areas
where you will be surrounded by game of all species. Your guide will
select campsites in the bush from where you can do game viewing walks
or just relax and view game from your campsite. You will also learn how
the people of the Okavango live and survive in this water wilderness.
With this safari you will be provided with all
camping equipment. Your guide, assistant and cook will set up camp at
the selected campsites and tend to all your needs. A bush toilet and
shower with hot water will be provided. On this safari you will be able
to explore a reasonably vast area of the Delta. In the 10 days you will
move to a new campsite every 2nd or 3rd day or you could choose to stay
longer in a place where the game viewing is especially good. A charter
flight will take you from Maun to a bush strip in the Delta and will
collect you again when your safari has ended. By carefully following
the instructions of your guide and adhering to a few simple guidelines,
which will be provided, you will be able to enjoy this safari with the
knowledge that your safety is of utmost importance to us and that you
are good hands as the guides have extensive knowledge of the animals
and the terrain and will also pay special attention to your safety.
Our mokoro safaris are conducted in the
Chief's Island area of the Okavango Delta. This is also part of the
Moremi Game Reserve and has been declared a wilderness area. This means
that there are no permanent camps or lodges in this area. This serves
to provide a true African wilderness experience.
